Who's Who @ Planet Keeper |

Planet Keeper is the brainchild of Michael Crichton, as described in State of Fear. Crichton (it's pronounced cry-ton) was a wonderful writer and had won the sort of academic gongs that most people only dream about. When he wrote fiction wrapped around science, technology or biology, you could bet that the said biology, technology or science was factual - every bit as much as you could rely on the story to be a ripper. Much regretted, Michael Crichton recently went through that change we all must come to sooner or later, passing away of cancer in November 2008. Based on the ideas presented in State of Fear, supplemented my own studies, experiences, ideas and aspirations, I have set about bringing Crichton's concept into realisation. Members of the so-called environmental movement - better called industry, or even better 'racket' - today are past their use-by date; their once valid radical causes are now mainstream, establishment platforms, and do not need organised begging to support them, or the money-bloated whited sepulchres their once iconic institutions have become to represent them. They have achieved what their founders wanted.
Unfortunately, they are so profitable (yes, not-for-profit status covers
up a multitude of very lucrative rip-offs for their operators) that
these corporations are unlikely to ever give up their cash cows. Their
CEOs and the others with their snouts in the environmentalist racket
trough ain't going to give up their sweet deals without a fight. They
are draining the public purse and good-will pool and attention span while more
timely, appropriate and needed environmental work is not getting done
through lack of will, organisation and funding. It is for this reason I have founded Planet Keeper. The Earth definitely needs a champion to tilt at its windmills for it, and the present environment industry membership is not interested in doing anything other than generating media scare stories to promote their outdated causes, and counting their revenues. My name is Hugh O'Connor, graduate in Economics from the National University of Ireland in my native Dublin, postgraduate work in Business Administration, Finance, Business Planning, Venture Capital, Marketing, Management, Law & Communications. By profession I specialise in the strategic communications aspects of change management. I migrated to Australia in 1973 and became a citizen in 1975. My background includes economic and market analysis, venture capital, and organisational communications; I've been a journalist, a publisher, a publican and a farmer. I am the founder of NOBIS, a movement dedicated to modernising and 'hardening' the democratic process against corrupting influences. I am proud also to be co-founder and Secretary / Treasurer of the Community Law Association, which - inter alia - tackles Governments and corporations on their all-too-frequent and otherwise ignored infractions of Statute Law and of the Constitution. Well, that's the full roll-up for now; at the least, Planet Keeper membership is easy to count. I am looking for like-minded people of all sexes, ages, nations, races, colours, creeds and politics to join me in my quest for this Holy Grail. I need to recruit individuals for the roles described in the Aims & Activities page. At present, Planet Keeper cannot pay wages; however, despite the not-for-profit tag, we will once established operate as a full commercial venture, earning revenue through sale of non-compromised, unbiased environmental research, as well as through grants and sponsorships. Once commercially viable, all staff will be paid at realistic rates, ie, as close to market rates as possible, with no expectations of volunteer wage sacrifice. I need individuals to become Planet Keeper National Champions in their own countries, world-wide. Their task will be to develop the Planet Keeper national / state team there, and to do all that is required to get the movement known, understood and sympathetically received there. They will need to have remarkable human skills, the ability to articulate and to persuade, the ability to organise, and the will to work with the international team co-operatively and in a disciplined manner. Please join me - it's worth the effort.
